Two New Seed Awards for Medical Humanities
Medical Humanities Sheffield has been successful in getting seed funding from the Northern Network for Medical Humanities Research for two projects:
‘The epistemology of non-epileptic attack disorder’ is led by MHS member Jon Dickson, with Annamaria Carusi, Markus Reuber and Richard Grünewald as Sheffield collaborators. The project seeks to explore non-epileptic attack disorder as a form of medically unexplained symptom, and to deepen the understanding of its epistemology.
Stephanie Wright obtained seed funding for a project that explores how understandings and experiences of disability were shaped by transnational encounters between Europe and the Arab world in the twentieth century. This research question will be explored through a comparative case study of the Moroccan war disabled of the Francoist army after the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and their counterparts within the French armed forces during and after the Second World War.
